Following a string of tragic shootings by off-duty L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies, Sheriff Lee Baca has proposed changes in departmental policy, including a ban on deputies carrying firearms while drinking.
This proposed policy has sparked criticism that this would endanger and handicap the officers and encourage those with criminal intent to act where they otherwise would not.
